From soft woods to hard woods, the perfect shapes and designs have never been easier to achieve, with the addition of lights and electrical points a deck can be used all year round. Wooden planters can also be handsomely worked into a deck design.
Some of the features we offer for timber decking:
The hardwood decking we supply is mainly Bangkarai (Balu) or Iroko. However, other types can be supplied on request. Both Bangkarai and Iroko are highly durable and have a low tendency for warping or splitting. They both also have a grooved surface and are suitable for commercial and domestic use. Hardwood decks are commonly used on balconies, roof gardens, walkways and pedestrian bridges. Bangkarai is a light to medium brown in colour and turns to a silvery grey colour over time if not painted. Iroko has a distinct yellowish colour and will turn a yellow brown colour as it weathers if not painted. Small pinholes are a typical characteristic caused by insect impingement in the living tree.
The timber used in softwood decking boards is Spruce. It is pressure treated with an EC approved system called Tanalith E which will prevent rot for at least 15 years. It comes with a grooved or smooth surface and is pale green in colour. However, the colour will fade due to weathering if not painted. It is mainly used for domestic decking.
